The current lifespan of an offshore wind turbine is about 30 years. 1990 was 36 years ago. As we wade through a period in which offshore wind turbines are needing to be decommissioned at a rate matching the climb of their original commission\, the methodology of their removal must be reviewed. After decades of operation\, ecosystems surrounding these turbines have been substantially altered; can they be expected to return to their original state when the turbine is removed? What are the larger consequences of this ecosystem change? This talk outlines research to be done in the environmental impacts of offshore wind turbine decommission through a combination of modelled predictions and empirically observed ecosystem change. \n \n \n   \n\n\n      \n    \n\nEva Neill\nIntegrating behavioural ecology into applied science: what consistent individual behaviour matters \nIndividuals within a population rarely respond to environmental change in the same way\, some show consistent behavioural traits across contexts\, while others are more flexible or reactive. This poster explores how such individual variation\, a core concept in behavioural ecology\, is increasingly being recognised as relevant to applied conservation and environmental management. Rather than treating populations as behaviourally uniform\, incorporating consistent individual differences can improve how we predict\, assess\, and respond to the impacts of human-driven environmental change.
